The watercolour paints are made by hand in my garden studio in very small batches; using natural earth and botanical pigments. These are paints I have been developing for use in my own work and during my residency at Cannon Hall Museum Park and Gardens.
How they are made:
The pigments are mixed with a binder by hand using a traditional glass muller and slab. The binder contains only a handful of ingredients including organic clove oil which acts as a natural preservative. The pigment mixture is then carefully poured into empty acorn caps and left to dry. They can be used in the same way as any other dry watercolour paints. The paint filled acorns are perfect to use in artist travel sets and come with their own little tin, secured in place with Blu-tack.
Some of the paints may loosen in their cups or show some cracks, this is normal and due to the different properties of individual pigments.
SIZE: Medium-large acorns (These are larger than the mini set of acorns and smaller than the XL indigo duo sets) : size of tin when closed approx: Length 9.5cm x Width 6 cm x Depth 2.3 cm
